Here is an “A24 Trimaran” – otherwise known as an “Adventure Trimaran” – ready to go sailing. The boat is also ready for a new owner-sailor.
Here’s the scoop.
I just received the following from Doug Gurley. He essentially built an Adventure trimaran, but calls his model the A24. Doug used the molds that were made from the original boat and then modified the rig. Doug’s boat now sports a Hobie 18 mainsail and jib.
The first Adventure tri, as you may recall, was built over a decade ago by sailor Mark Zollitsch. (Videos of Mark sailing his original version of the boat are below, as they’re still available on YouTube).
Doug is now selling his A24 and created the following website to advertise it: https://www.modifieda24trimaranforsale.com … He gave me permission to post some of the info on his site, along with some of the illustrations / pictures of the craft.
Doug writes on his site:
This website documents the process and progress of building the A 24 tri. I was looking for a lightweight 1-2 man sailboat, especially for light air conditions. I found the A 24 on a YouTube video. Please spend some time watching that by going to YouTube and search “Adventure 24 Trimaran” on their searcher. Because the video is archived, a google search will not work. The original designer was Mark Zolitsch, then of Bellingham, WA. I believe that only 2 or 3 have been built.
The first unit was set up with 2 of the largest available windsurfing masts, booms, and sails. This needed rigging to stabilize the windsurfing masts. One can see from the early videos that the boat was quite easily driven in very light conditions.
Once again, all of the info, along with Doug’s contact info, can be found at his website, for as long as it stays up (likely until the boat sells). Check it all out at: https://www.modifieda24trimaranforsale.com
Can this bird fly?
