Here are a few pics of a vintage Horstman TriStar 18 trimaran. This one hailed from Seattle.
Martine Koban shares the following pics with us, of both her father building a TriStar 18 and then sailing it with her mother, after completing the build. The boat looks great too.
Her father also built a Horstman 35 cruising tri (also shown below).
Martine writes:
I’m sharing pictures of my dad Al. These were taken in 1970s Seattle. This project was prior to the hatching stage of a future 35ft Horstman TriStar named “Mistral.”
I enjoyed reading the post dated Feb 4, 2010 by Earl Patterson. Where he mentioned at the end “This winter in Montana.” I immediately thought, “Ed Horstman lives in Montana!” (Ed and my dad became very good friends).
I just thought it would be nice for Earl and Ed to talk. Perhaps Earl will read this post and comment so Ed can contact him? That would be nice. Things have a way of coming full circle in life.
Your site brought back a lot of memories of hanging on for dear life in the 18 footer w dad!
The pictures here include Mom and dad – date was 1973 on the 18 footer. Dad belonged to NWMA – sailing the boat on Lk Union and or Lk Washington.
And here’s a picture of Horstman TriStar “Mistral” dad built in early 1970s…
Here are the pics of the 18…
