Today I heard from UK small tri sailor Algie Bennett. He shared some news I am very happy to pass on to our readers.

The following is based upon my email correspondence with Algie. More news is coming (hopefully in February).
What news?
Basically this, a new brand – “Adventure Trimarans” – is coming in the UK.
The story begins with Len Surtees’ Sting 600 project.
Algie said Len is retiring and he bought the Sting trimaran #1 hull (saving him from having to build it). The boat is being shipped to him at the end of this month.
The Sting project is being rebranded as “Adventure Trimarans.” Algie hopes these boats will enter the small UK/EU Raid-type scene and may also be used to inspire a new 300 mile race along the south coast – perhaps even by next year, hopefully.
The original www.sting600.net website is now closed and Algie just starting to build a new website: www.adventuretrimarans.co.uk
The new site should be live, with limited info, by the end of February.
Algie will be selling plans for the standard Sport and the Fast Foiler models and is currently working on a Coastal Cruiser version, which will be a direct competitor to the Astus 20.5, as it will have a small cabin for 2, with space for a galley.
He may also offer CNC cut kits to speed building and potentially even fully or partly built boats.
Oh, and just to tease readers a bit more, Algie said he is also planning to build a portable electric boat mover system … one that will enable easy launching without using a car. Such a system would be particularly helpful at a lot of UK launching locations, which he says can be quite tricky if one doesn’t have 4-wheel drive system.
Lots of videos featuring the Adventure models are planned and we wish Algie every success with this venture!
(More to come :-)
